Driven by a shared vision of a fully connected and transparent logistics network, project44 and SAP joined forces in 2019 to enable B2B connectivity and collaboration, empowering global companies to create more resilient supply chains and make smarter decisions across their logistics workflows with real-time access to high-fidelity data. "With the uncertainty global companies are facing today, supply chains are at their breaking point, and logistics is what interconnects the entire process. Shippers need visibility data to steer their entire supply chain," said Paige Cox, SVP and Head SAP Business Network.

Four AI predictions for 2020

#artificialintelligence

In the coming year there will be less isolated experimentation around AI; many companies will move out of the pilot phase and toward enterprise-wide deployment. Although AI at scale is rare today, many companies are setting this as a core objective over the next three years. To rapidly pursue AI, many companies are looking to third-party AIaaS vendors. While embracing third parties does not eliminate the need to build up internal capabilities, it opens up more options. In a sample we surveyed of large global companies, we estimated that roughly two-thirds of their total AI spending is currently allocated to internal build – and only one-third is dedicated to buying services from vendors.

Now AI can conduct your job interview at Tata Consultancy, Unilever, Marriott

Video-based interviews, either on Skype or Facetime or as recorded links, have been used for some years, but now a new and tricky feature has become popular: HR tech companies have begun to deploy artificial intelligence (AI) to assess candidates even as their skills are being tested on several parameters. Companies are using AI-based voice recognition and facial recognition software that reads the candidate in a way that no human can. When a candidate answers questions, AI software reads expressions and measures voice modulation to get into the mind of the candidate. Lying and misleading expressions can be caught. Candidates hear an automated voice and see no one at the other end as they get time to answer questions while looking into the camera.

The Growth and Evolution of India's Software Industry

Communications of the ACM

The development of the Indian software industry is an archetype of how economic liberalization combined with an entrepreneurial spirit can build an industry that today contributes as much as 8% to the GDP of a fast-growing country like India. On the back of thousands of IT services companies that were built over the last three decades, the industry has generated US$177 billion in revenue and more than US$135 billion in exports in FY 2018–2019 alone. The IT industry has also created over four million direct jobs and 12 million indirect jobs in India. A testament to this growth is the fact that the largest Indian IT services company is currently valued at over US$100 billion and generates over US$20 billion in revenue. Over the years, the Indian software industry has matured from providing cost-effective back office support to driving the digital transformation agenda ahead in global companies. Increasingly, leaders of more than a thousand global enterprises across the U.S., Europe, and other locations have realized India's potential and have set up their own IT or R&D centers to take advantage of the vibrant Indian software ecosystem. The current wave of Indian software entrepreneurs is focusing on building platforms and products for Indian and global markets. This has led to the creation of more than 7,000 tech startups in India.
